Memorial Day Weekend Sales

Shopping! Today we finally went shopping for new pots and pans. We have needed new ones for a while now but have been waiting for a good sale. So we went to Dillards and got some Emeril stainless steel pots and pans which were a really good deal. Unfortunately there were no non-stick pans that we liked. I am a little nervous to use the stainless steel but Nick is excited because we no longer have "cancer pots" as he likes to call them.
We were also able to get a really good deal on a bed for our spare room. Now when friends and family come to visit they will have something to sleep on! So I guess that means you guys can all come and visit now!! We even got a super good deal on a sheet set! Now we just have to work out how to get it all home. We were about to tie it to the top of the car but then it started pouring down rain. Guess we will have to pick it up next week.

There were some good deals at Old Navy but they were pretty much cleaned out (no $1 flip flops for me) by the time we got there. Nick was able to get a red shirt (required for work on tuesday) for only $6 and a polo shirt for only $10. He has to wear plain shirts to work, and he has a lot of graphic t's that he can't wear, so I was excited he will have more variety for work now!

Overall we had a pretty good shopping day! We still haven't decided on anything fun to do for Monday. I am worried that anywhere we want to go will just be packed with people! If you have any fun suggestions let us know!

Time Flies

So I am finally getting caught up on last week! Monday we had our anniversary dinner and then as a present for Nick for our anniversary I got him tickets to see the new Star Trek in the IMAX theater at the Palladium. The movie was actually good which suprised me. I have spent most of my life trying very hard to not have to watch a Star Trek movie but for Nick I went and it kept my attention so I guess it was a success. It was fun to see it on the IMAX screen and I think that we will always go there to see any other action movies because it makes them so much better.
Thursday I went to Pass the Plate (a relief society activity for my ward) and learned how to make some really good stir fry dishes all authentic like. I really should make it for nick one of these nights! We were able to watch the lady cook in her outdoor kitchen and show us all the tricks. I of course have mosquito bites up and down my legs because I always get bit! Other than that it was pretty fun!
On Friday I went with some friends to the outlet malls in San Marcos. I love shopping! I got one pair of bermuda shorts and a pair of capris because I can no longer wear pants. It is very very hot and humid! I also got a really cute Williams and Sonoma apron! I have been searching for a cute apron for a while now so I was excited to see they had their summer ones on sale!
Over the weekend we had lots of fun with friends! Movies and games combined with food is always a hit. We made some really good chocolate heath bar ice cream in our ice cream maker and have already gotten the ingrediants to do it again!
That brings us to this week- yesterday I finally got my package in the mail of all my products I ordered from Melaleuca and I am very excited to start using all of them!
Tonight I will be going to Chester's Hamburgers with some girls from the ward. Their sign says they have the best burgers in sa so I am going to try it out and see!

Anniversary

So last week Nick and I had our third anniversary! We celebrated by going to The Tower of the America's for dinner. It is like the space needle of san antonio. It looks very similar and has the rotating restaurant at the top looking over downtown sa. The food was great and even though sa is no Seattle it was still a great view from the top!

Here is a pic of one of the roses from the dozen that Nick gave me for our anniversary!

Nothing New

Just writing to say sorry that I haven't been writing. One reason is that we haven't really done anything blog worthy lately. Nick started up at USAA and has been working for almost two weeks now. We have been hanging out with friends and relaxing. Nick has been on a pasta kick lately and has made raviolli and two different types of tortellini dishes that were pretty good! He definitely enjoys fresh pasta using the pasta maker. Unfortunately we have different tastes when it comes to the broth. It is a good thing we know how to make a good alfredo! Here is a pic of the chicken tortellini before they were cooked.

Another reason I haven't written is that my computer has been wiped clean for a fresh start and since Nick has not been feeling well lately it is taking a while to get it back to working order. I am not completely computer illiterate but since a lot of the driver discs are missing Nick decided he would take on the task of finding and downloading them all. Thanks Nick!

Lately we haven't been going out much but when we do get out we like to explore all the different restaurants around here. We went to a new one that we really like called Freebirds. It is similar to Chipotle but I like it because not everything is spicy! It is also really close to our house and pretty inexpensive. I can get three chicken hard tacos, chips, salsa and a drink for only six bucks! Did I mention that it tastes great too!

So I am really excited for my mom and sister to visit at the end of July! They have their plane tickets and I have already started planning all the fun activities we are going to do. I hope they are ready for the heat because it is already so humid and hot I can't imagine what July will be like. Here a few of the fun places we are going to visit:
The Alamo
Sea World!
Palladium Movie Theater to see Harry Potter 6
The Riverwalkand Rudy's Bar-B-Q,just to name a few. I sure we will also be hanging out by the pool and possibly making a few crafts in my air conditioned apartment! I can't wait!
I am also excited for this weekend because we will be celebrating our third anniversary! It is an odd year (2009) so Nick is in charge of the planning. He insists that we have the day activities on Saturday and then dinner on our actual anniversary which is Monday. I can't wait to see what he has planned!
